The annual festival which is recognised by the Lagos State Government as part of the state’s festivals will witness some new initiatives introduced by the new IKODASS administration led by Chairman, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole. The theme, logo and programme of events were unveiled at a press conference held at the IKODASS secretariat on Friday.

Theme for this year’s annual celebration is: “Celebrating Our Roots, Forging Our Future” and will kick – off Saturday, November 8, 2025 with an Inter – religious service and Woro procession.

Alhaji Kolawole Fatai assured residents of Ikorodu that this year’s edition will further the celebration of heritage and tradition of Ikorodu people.

“We are here today to officially unveil the THEME, LOGO and the TIME TABLE of the events for this year’s festival, which promises to be a vibrant celebration of our rich heritage and cultural identity: A legacy of Culture and Community Development.

The Ikorodu-Oga Festival has, since 1992, grown to become a cornerstone of our community. A time when we come together to honour our ancestors, showcase our traditions and foster a spirit of unity. It is more than just a festival, it’s a testament to the resilience and pride of the Ikorodu people.

This year, we aim to build on that legacy by focusing on what makes our culture truly unique.”

Explaining the concept of the theme, the IKODASS chairman spoke of the association’s aim of sustaining and celebrating the heritage of the founding fathers of the kingdom and to ensure its passage to the younger ones and the generation yet unborn.

“I am proud to announce that the Theme for the 34th Ikorodu-Oga Festival is “Celebrating Our Roots, Forging Our Future”. This encompasses our vision for this year’s event. It is a look back at the traditional dances and music to the wisdom passed down through generations. At the same time, it is a projection to the future, embracing the young people who hold forth our culture.

We want to bridge the past and the present and ensure that our heritage remains a living breathing part of our community for years to come.”

Presenting the logo, the IKODASS chairman said: “This logo was designed to visually represent the theme. The statue of ‘Oga’ represents
our heritage identity in the mood of celebration.”

According to the Chairman, “The 34th Ikorodu-Oga Festival will commence fully on Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th November, 2025 and there is a full schedule of events planned including Fanty Carnival with different colours of costumes, fireworks to herald the commencement of the week-long festival, traditional parades, cultural display, school debate in our local dialect (Ijebu), Oba Ayangburen Marathon race, Royal All white party and other community focused activities of the past editions that will promote our cultural heritage.”

Alhaji Kolawole urged every son, daughter, and resident of Ikorodu both home and abroad and tourists to be part of the celebration.

“We invite everyone, residents, visitors, all sons and daughters in diaspora, our friends in the media to join us. Let us jointly make this year’s festival and celebration a resounding success, a true celebration of Ikorodu’s past, present and the great future.”
